I'm watching the MLB All Star game, and it's a good one. It's going into the bottom of the twelf, tied 3-3, and the relievers keep on dancing out of lots of trouble. (in the tenth, the N.L. guy pitched out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam, while the A.L. had the bases loaded and one out. Same result.)

I am watching a lovely 1935 5 1/2 hour movie production of Les Miserables y Raymond Bernard. It is as close to the novel as I could imagine a movie being. I wish I had Valjean's decency, and Javert's work ethic. What a man I would be then!
With any luck, I will be living in the Ukrainian village with my cousin Jessica come September first, where I can grow fat on perogies.
Eileen returns to N.C. in a week and a bit. That'll be strange. At the very least, she'll be shocked at how big Atticus has gotten in her two months away in Thailand.
I need to sell my drum kit and television and many of my books. Too much of a hassle to drag back. I'll miss them, especially my books, but I can always get more. And I've read them all anyway. Mere pride in having so many. I don't think I have any room for pride in the little moving truck.
I did see a few lovely movies, hellboy and Get. And wall-E, which was the loveliest of the bunch. Sleepy scottini. Time to read some Raymond Chandler, pretend I'm Phillip Marlowe, like any good American boy, and drift off to sleep. |
